Internship Opportunities

We are excited to offer Internship Opportunities for students who have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies. Working under the direction of the marketing vice president, you’ll have the opportunity to work independently as well as collaboratively with other interns, outside contractors, the CEO, and the marketing team – and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of a start-up company.

We intend to fill the intern positions by the end of June, and will update this page as we find the right candidate for each position. Interviews will begin on June 24th, 2020.

Specific duties, responsibilities, requirements, and benefits of each internship are below.

Virtual Meetings: Attend weekly meetings with team, and an individual meeting with your manager. These meetings are held via ZOOM

Hours: at least 10 hours a week, generally flexible between 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. ET and with consideration to your availability. Specific days/times will be arranged. Must be able to take part in virtual team meetings.

Compensation: Unpaid internship with no immediate opportunity for future employment. If school credit is possible, we will work with you to achieve credit requirements.

Marketing Internship

Internship Description

Are you a student who consistently annoys your friends with your deep-dive analysis of serious ideas and sometimes off the wall view of things? Shandoka Electric Motorcycles is dedicated to ecologically friendly personal transportation and is looking for a talented and knowledgeable marketer who can assess the company’s current situation and the competitive landscape and help lay the groundwork to take the company to the next level to join our Virtual Internship Program marketing team.

Marketing Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify market competitors and their points of differentiation from Shandoka Electric Motorcycles, prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentation and detailed written report on competitive landscape, along with marketing recommendations based on our business goals and objectives
  • Perform a SWOT analysis and prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentation and detailed written report on this and recommendations for next steps
  • Receive feedback and make necessary changes

Requirements

  • Business Administration, Marketing or related major with a minimum of two years of completed college studies
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and responsive to the demands of a dynamic work environment
  • Compelling portfolio of work related to this internship (may include class work)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with Google Docs a plus

Graphic Artist Internship

Internship Description

Are you a student who understands how to use two- and three-dimensional art to create visual concepts for clear communications? Shandoka Electric Motorcycles is dedicated to ecologically friendly personal transportation and is looking for a talented and knowledgeable graphic designer who understands how to communicate brands visually and effectively through fresh ideas to join our Virtual Internship Program marketing team.

Graphic Design Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively establish brand guidelines and graphic standards
  • Develop and present design concepts
  • Collaborate with members of the marketing internship team to develop online and marketing materials, including blog posts and news releases
  • Create and design digital materials and complete materials by deadline
  • Retouch and manipulate images
  • Use graphic design software
  • Receive feedback and make necessary changes
  • Assemble final materials for website as needed

Requirements

  • Graphic Design major preferred, closely related majors considered. Must have completed at least two full years of college.
  • Basic knowledge of layouts, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals
  • Experience with Adobe Suite or other design apps.
  • Strong creative and analytical skills
  • Must be flexible and responsive to the demands of a dynamic work environment
  • Compelling portfolio of graphic design work

Public Relations Internship

Shandoka Electric Motorcycles is dedicated to ecologically friendly personal transportation and is looking for a talented and knowledgeable public relations practitioner with fresh, creative ideas and solid written and oral communications skills to join our Virtual Internship Program marketing team.

Public Relations Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify national or local trends and issues relevant to the company
  • Write news releases about the company and craft story pitches
  • Receive feedback and make necessary changes
  • Identify opportunities for newsjacking and act on those opportunities
  • Assemble story packages for local media
  • Create interview preparation materials
  • Create or update databases of media contacts and story pitches
  • Coordinate public relations activities with Social Media intern

Requirements

  • Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism major with a minimum of two complete years of college
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of social media
  • Must be flexible and responsive to the demands of a dynamic work environment
  • Compelling portfolio of public relations work (may include class assignments)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with Google Docs a plus

Social Media Internship

Shandoka Electric Motorcycles is dedicated to ecologically friendly personal transportation and is looking for a talented and knowledgeable social media practitioner who understands the nuanced differences, best practices, and technical requirements of social media platforms, and can bring energy and insight to audience engagement to join our Virtual Internship Program marketing team.

Social Media Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, conceptualize, design, and execute social media campaigns using a blend of organic and paid strategies and following best practices
  • Monitor engagement, and respond in a timely manner
  • Create weekly content calendar, curate content and post
  • Compile target lists of followers and those to follow, craft plan, and execute
  • Coordinate social media with Public Relations and Graphic Design interns
  • Benchmark social media effectiveness to identify high-performing content

Requirements

  • Major in digital communications or related field such as advertising or journalism, must have completed two full years of college
  • Impeccable oral and written communications skills, strong proof-reading skills
  • Experience with Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram in B2C communications. Other platform experience a plus
  • Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, and Twitter Analytics, to trace audience engagement and campaign performance
  • Experience with content management systems and Microsoft Office

Copy Writer Internship

Internship Description

Are you a student who doesn’t trust anyone with an empty bookshelf, have an opinion on the Oxford comma, and know how to tell a good story? If so, we need a writer like you with an engaging style and lively tone to join our Virtual Internship Program marketing team.

Web / Social Media Copywriter Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review existing website and develop a comprehensive tone and approach for content refresh in conjunction with website redesign
  • Work with third-party website design firm to create new site
  • Edit and create content for website in some (if not all) of these categories:
  • Receive feedback and make necessary changes
  • Assemble final content for website as needed

Requirements

  • A major or degree in English, Digital Communications, Marketing, or a related field. Must have completed at least two full years of college
  • An exceptional ability to convey messages both in writing and in person, and how to collaborate effectively
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of web writing tactics and how to optimize for SEO
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work to refine the Shandoka voice to help reach our marketing goals
