About Our MN8-XS400 Conversion Kit
Yamaha XS400 and SECA motorcycles represent another creative frame design from the long-time Japanese favorite. Other than the obvious body design and ergonomic differences, the SECA sport bike had a 6-speed transmission versus the typical 5 speed in the cruiser-style XS. The XS can also be found in some parts of the world as 250cc variant.
While it is possible to convert any of the XS400 motorcycles with a cut-and-flange method, from 1981 to 1984 the cycles had a suspended engine design which is particularly simple to convert with our MN8 system.
With a standard chain drive, the XS400 is best suited to an in-wheel hub motor conversion but can be fitted with a mid-drive primary/secondary drive arrangement if desired.
This lightweight and compact design is particularly well-suited to café racers and bobbers but also a nice scrambler style mod. It may not be easy to find an XS400 in great running condition but you can almost always find a parts bike ready to convert.
The Base Cost of the XS400/SECA conversion does not necessarily reflect the cost of your design choices. Shandoka’s MN8 adapter makes it possible to build a wide range of performance characteristics onto the same motorcycle. The bigger your budget, the more we can do.
